The most common symptoms of strep throat are:

Strep throat is contagious, so it can be passed from person to person. Tiny droplets with the strep bacteria go into the air, when a person who has strep throat coughs, sneezes, or breathes and the droplets are inhaled by other people causing the bacteria to spread. It can also spread by drinking or eating after someone with the bacteria. Once exposed, it can take 2 to 5 days before you start to have symptoms.
